Our Origin

At the heart of it is a passion for eating good food while making a positive impact on both people and the planet.

A while back, just like many folks, I found myself dazed by the lightning-fast speed of climate change, with ethics lost in the rear-view mirror. As a dad, I wondered how we jumped from talking about planting more trees to literally fighting fires at our doorsteps in just a couple of decades. So-called "progress" seemed like a disguise for exploitation, leaving the less fortunate in the lurch and our environment on the brink. Pondering the burning urgency of climate change against the relentless chase for profit, I felt a deep urge to do something, even if it seemed like a drop in the ocean.

In my search for something real, I stumbled upon the tranquility of farming—good ol' planting seeds and reaping what you sow. Surrounded by fields, tending to the soil, I couldn't help but think of a better gig—one where we respect the land, give fair dues to farmers, and do right by the environment. Chatting up farmers, understanding challenges and exploitation they face only solidified my beliefs.

Cooking up meals with my daughter, using top-notch ingredients, connecting with folks who celebrate the Earth's bounty and ethical ways, and the thought of leaving a better world for the next generation filled me with purpose and optimism.

Despite the hurdles and doubts, after a couple of years of connecting, scheming, and seeking out the perfect partners, Motherland came into existence—a place where we give props to the farmers, dig into the earth's goodness, reduce our impact and gather 'round for some seriously good grub and deep chats.

So, come join this ride—to be a part of a crew that's about ethical practices, good vibes, and building bridges. Let's team up to treat the land, the people, and the planet with the respect they deserve.
